Georgia Rides To The Capitol 2012
The 2012 was another great event with sunny, warm weather and over 1,500 riders along with a host of mayors and elected officials from the metro area. This year’s ride was the genesis for the Georgia DOT efforts to create and adopt a Complete Streets policy. As DOT Chief Engineer Gerald Ross addressed the crowd, he heard the crowd calling out “Complete the Streets” and afterwards asked event organizers what folks were calling out about. When he learned the details of this policy, he made it a priority for the GDOT to investigate and create a Complete Streets policy for Georgia. Kudos to the riders and other participants for helping get the process moving.
That’s just one reason to come ride the 2013 event – you never know what you can accomplish unless you try!
